Post-Excavation Management and Publication
Our project management service includes the production of costed project designs for post-excavation assessment and analysis, and we are successful in achieving approval from relevant local authorities for all types of assemblages. We design and manage all scales of post-excavation projects from start to finish, including assessment reports, radiocarbon dating programmes, final analysis/archive reports, and publication reports.
CFA offers the management of post-excavation assessment and analysis projects through to publication for archaeological and heritage companies and organisations. Our team is experienced in the analysis of site data, and we have taken several sites through to publication based on records made by others. We provide an editorial service and can transform existing grey literature reports into public-facing articles, academic articles, monographs, and all other forms of publication.

Key Services
Specialist Artefact Reporting
CFA processes and catalogues all types of artefacts recovered from archaeological sites. We have in-house specialists who can assess and analyse pottery, animal bone, archaeobotanical remains, human remains, lithics, metal artefacts, and more. CFA has a proven track record in managing assessment and analysis projects for all types of post-excavation works packages.
CVs for our artefact specialists are available upon request.
Soil Sample and Environmental Processing
We have a range of specialists who can give on site sampling advice and consultation in advance of works. We are also happy to give on site advice if you come across anything unusual or unexpected.
Archaeological sites can produce thousands of litres of environmental soil samples. CFA’s post-excavation team wet-sieves samples quickly and efficiently and can process small to large quantities of soil samples.
In addition, we can process waterlogged samples for specialist analysis. We are skilled in the sub-sampling and assessment of monolith or column tin samples.
Artefact Photography
Artefacts can be photographed in CFA's in-house photography studio. We can set up, capture, and edit images in a variety of styles to suit any purpose. CFA’s photography has been used in printed books, in formal digital publications, in social media and public outreach channels.
